Lithuanian actor Donatas Banionis hospitalized
Prominent Lithuanian actor Donatas Banionis was transferred to nursing and supportive treatment department of the Mykolas Marcinkevičius Hospital on Thursday.
Banionis suffered clinical death but doctors managed to resuscitate him and start his heart again. Doctors say that the actor's condition is complicated, requires long treatment and care.
Banionis turned 90 this year and was awarded by the Ministry of Culture the honour badge Carry your Light and Believe. He was also awarded the National Prize for the continuation of the Juozas Miltinis Theatre tradition.
Stage and film actor is best known internationally for his role in Soviet filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky's 1972 science fiction epic Solaris.
