Seimas votes down ban on smoking on flats' balconies
The Lithuanian parliament on Tuesday voted down a proposal to ban smoking on balconies of multi-apartment buildings.
Thirty-seven members of the Seimas voted in favor of the proposed ban, 22 voted against it and 25 abstained.
The amendments to the Tobacco Control Law also called for imposing a ban of smoking within the radius of 10 meters from blocks of flats.
However, the parliament on Tuesday supported a proposal to abandon this regulation.
Police and local government officials have said that such regulations would be difficult to enforce.
