Fifty buildings in and around Vilnius will open to visitors with experts on hand to guide and explain during the upcoming weekend. Many of these buildings rarely open their doors to the public or are only partially accessible to the public.

The buildings that can be visited include some museums, government buildings, the parliament, office buildings and a few embassies. A number of theatres will allow also a peek behind the scenes. There are some brand new buildings and there are truly historic ones.

Given the large number of buildings, it is best to plan your visit. Some of them are a bit out of town; many are within walking distance in the city centre. Some can be visited both days, whilst others are open 1 day only. Open House Vilnius has a list of buildings that can be accessed via the Open House Vilnius website: Open House Vilnius.

It is recommended to bring valid official identification as that is required to access some government building, such as the national parliament.

Open House Vilnius is part of a worldwide initiative that started in London in 1992 and is now organised in more than 30 countries. The main aim of the organisation is to engage in a dialogue between buildings and the public. The first Open House in Vilnius took place in 2015.
