Janušienė appointed as Lithuania's new tax chief

State Tax Inspectorate

Edita Janušienė, former chief auditor at the central Bank of Lithuania, has been appointed to head the country's State Tax Inspectorate (STI) for the next four years.

Finance Minister Vilius Šapoka on Wednesday signed a decree to appoint Janušienė to the position after she won a competition. Janušienė will take the post on July 28, the ministry said.

In Šapoka's words, the State Tax Inspectorate is the institution that needs a chief who can take responsibility, possesses strategic thinking, high competences and respect to the state.

The STI has been without a permanent head after Dainoras Bradauskas was fired for official misconduct on Jan. 20.
