Ocean Crown, a vessel sailing under the flag of Cyprus that ran aground near the Lithuanian port city of Klaipeda in early hours of Sunday, was freed on Wednesday, the port's spokeswoman Dovilė Ringis said.

In her words, Ocean Crown started moving towards the port at 11:30 a.m.

The 190-m bulk carrier is empty and was en route to Klaipeda for a freight of grain, said Ringis.

The rescue work was started on Tuesday afternoon, with the rescue operation headed by the Dutch company Smit.

Ocean Crown with a crew of 20 ran aground in early hours of Sunday due to what appears to be an error of the main engine.
