Klaipėda port's ex-official gets suspended jail sentence for taking bribe from Latvian
Gediminas Zumaras, the Klaipėda port's former director for infrastructure, on Wednesday was handed a 2.5-year suspended prison sentence for accepting a bribe from Genadijs Kamkalovs, a former chairman of the management board at Latvia's construction company Latvijas Tilti.
The Klaipėda Regional Court also imposed a fine of 9,400 euros on the Latvian national, the court's spokeswoman, Laima Domarkienė, told BNS.
She added that the court had confiscated 5,000 euros and an expensive watch given by Kamkalovs to Zumaras as bribes.
The Klaipėda court's ruling can be appealed to the Lithuanian Court of Appeals within 20 days.
