Agriculture minister to decide on staying in post after meetings with PM, ruling party
Lithuanian Agriculture Minister Bronius Markauskas said on Thursday that he will decide on whether to remain in his post next week after meeting with the prime minister and the ruling party's political group in the Seimas.
Markauskas was commenting on President Dalia Grybauskaitė's statement that he has lost "the political and moral right" to stay as agriculture minister after criticism over his family's farming practices.
"Obviously, this isn't a pleasant situation and, of course, the president's opinion is very important, but I'm a politician and a team person. I need to meet both with the prime minister and with the (Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union) group before making up my mind," he told BNS.
