Eleven apply for CEO job at Lithuania's Ignalina NPP

Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant

Eleven people have applied for the job of chief executive officer at Lithuania's Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (INPP), which is carrying out decommissioning projects worth hundreds of millions of euros.

Aurelija Vernickaitė, an advisor to the energy minister, told BNS that 11 applications had been received.

The new CEO will replace Darius Janulevičius, who resigned in early February amid a law-enforcement investigation into a suspected non-transparent sale of the nuclear power facility's assets.

Law-enforcement officials last December completed their pre-trial investigation into an auction of the Ignalina plant's assets worth over 1.5 million euros, held in 2014, and brought formal suspicions of abuse against six people, including Janulevicius and Osvaldas Čiukšys, a former CEO of the Ignalina NPP.
