Lithuanian officers to hold radioactive explosion tabletop exercise
Officers from the Lithuanian interior system will carry out a tabletop exercise in September on how to respond to an explosion of a radioactive bomb during a mass gathering.
A tabletop exercise is a meeting of higher-ranking officers to discuss a simulated emergency situation. It is aimed at improving institutional response to a future or ongoing emergency.
Interior Minister Eimutis Misiūnas has signed an order to hold such an exercise on Sep. 6.
"Such tabletop exercises often revealed coordination and information exchange drawbacks and certain conclusions can be drawn," the minister told BNS Lithuania.
