Ship traffic restrictions still in place in Klaipėda due to strong winds
Ship traffic restrictions are still in place in Lithuania's port of Klaipėda on Wednesday due to bad weather conditions, the port's spokeswoman Dovilė Ringis said.
"Waves are still high, reaching up to 4 meters high, and pilots still cannot access ships in the sea. Only ships than don’t need pilot assistance can enter and exit the port," she said.
Six vessels are now awaiting entry into the port, Ringis said.
"Based on the forecasts we have, winds will get stronger in coastal areas in the afternoon. Forecasters warns about very strong northwestern winds of up to 28 m/t in gusts," the port's spokeswoman said.
Ship traffic has been restricted in Klaipėda since 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
