A walk on Sunday afternoon in Klaipėda‘s Melnragė I near the pier could have ended in tragedy for four people, klaipeda.diena.lt reports.

The lives of two women with children were nearly claimed by the sea when they sought to take photos on an ice drift and fell into the ice-cold waters.

Witnesses rushed to their aid, joining hands to form a living chain, helping the women and children out of the water. Reports state that major injuries were avoided.
