"We are planning for a surplus budget. This is one of the measures to keep the economy from overheating and the inflation from growing," Šapoka told BNS on Wednesday.

"We are currently forming the budget, therefore, I cannot give a specific number yet. We updated the (economic growth) forecasts yesterday," the minister added.

Sapoka expressed certitude that the government would manage to work out a 2018 plan for state revenue and spending in a way that it is a surplus.
